Vitra Eames armchair DAW RE

Charles & Ray Eames, 1950

For the Dining Height Side Chair, Charles and Ray Eames combined the organically shaped seat shell with a wooden (DAW) or wire (DAR) base with four legs. This combination of plastic and wood or aluminum lends warmth and a casual look to the classic design. The seat shell is equipped with full upholstery in Hopsak in different colors, so that numerous individual configurations can be formed.

Material Description
  • Seat shell: thoroughly colored, recycled polypropylene, 100% recyclable. All models are available with a seat cushion (bolted to the seat shell) or full upholstery. The variant with full upholstery consists of a molded polyurethane foam upholstery covered with fabric and attached to the seat shell with piping. Various colors of shell and upholstery and different bases offer plenty of room for combining.
  • Please note that due to the composition of the recycled material, the colors of the seat shell show very subtle pigment specks.
  • Options: the Eames Plastic Chair RE is available as a visitor chair, dining chair, rocking chair, swivel chair or as a stackable version with brackets to link the chairs together in rows. Seats on traverses are suitable for waiting areas.
  • Base: wooden base in various shades of maple or honey-colored ash, stained or lacquered. Supports made of steel wire in basic dark. (DAW = Dining Height Armchair Wood Base)
  • Wood origin: ash wood (Fraxinus excelsior) and maple wood (Acer platanoides) from Western Europe and/or Poland.
